Sunriver Village Update May 8

As we recently heard the next Sunriver Chamber Community Forum will host an update on the Sunriver Village redevelopment on May 8th. The meeting will be at 9:00 a.m, in the Abbott Rooms at the Sunriver Lodge.
We will be very interested to hear what the Silverstar Destinations group will have to say. There are many rumors floating around and it will be good to try to get them cleared up. The reason we say try is that the Silverstar Destinations group is very good at side stepping questions and creating more questions than answers.
We will be giving you a prompt update on what Silverstar Destinations has to say as soon as the meeting is over.

Has anyone been able to find reference to projects similar in scope or magnitude that Silver Star has completed in the past?

I'd be interested to learn if they've ever been successful on similar jobs. Cannot find any kind of cv or work history that would indicate their ability to pull off this project.

Very happy to see the blog. We have started organizing a group to start actually getting information about the development out. The website is www.SaveSunriver.org. As you can tell we are not supportive of turning the mall into a high-rise high-density housing development for the financial benefit of SilverStar Destination's partners. This is Sunriver, not a big city or high glitz resort with a need for a bunch of bars (ala Whistler).

On a related note to what Charlie posted I just heard at a meeting last night from a local builder that a developer from hear inthe Willamette Valley said that the principals behind SilverStar have a history of locking up big tracts of land with the intent of changing the zoning and then developing the land. He also said that they are not afraid to walk away, and loose some money, if it doesn't work out. What we don't know is how much money SilverStar has actually paid - or if they just have a commitment and can walk away without loosing a substantial amount of money if this doesn't work out.
